2009 Mayor’s Gala Charity Ball

Bon Soir MesDames et Mesiers,

il sent comme nous sommes à Paris, n’est pas?– it feels like we are in Paris, doesn’t it?

I am honoured to be here tonight representing the Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society.

For the Society to be recipient of the funds raised from the Mayor’s Charity Ball is simply outstanding.

The Fire Fighters are a unique group who are driven by their passion to help people and to make a difference in their communities.

Just like everyone here, is also helping to make a difference for those who are in need.

Earlier today in Holland Park the City unveiled a new piece of art titled the SERVICE statue. The statue is a beautiful piece of art that recognizes the role Surrey Fire Fighters have played in the community for over 50 years.

The Fire Fighters are extremely grateful to the Mayor and Council for this lasting tribute. Thank you all so much!

We understand this difficult economy is a challenge for everyone. That is why it is so important for all of us to be leaders. To do our part to help raise funds for the many good causes.

It is the unwavering commitment of Her Worship Mayor Dianne Watts & Council, amazing events such as this Charity Ball, and the ongoing dedication of the Fire Fighters, that will indeed make a difference to our community and our citizens.

Please be as generous as possible tonight and enjoy this great event.
