Fire
Fighter of the Year Award
“To
Serve and Protect”
To
Serve and Protect, the fire fighters credo, exemplifies
all of the nominees for this years award. Each
in their own way, serve the community everyday. At
a moments notice, they are prepared to lay their
life on the line. They
are committed to the community to make Surrey not
only a safer place, but a better place to live. They
are driven to save the life of someone they have
never met and will likely never meet again.
The
wail of a siren, the red flashing of lights to answer
a call for help, all draw our attention to the tragedies
that fire fighters face daily. We
do not take it for granted, but we have grown to
expect they will be there no matter what our call
for help may be. Fire
Fighters have become our nation’s first responders.
Whether it be fire, medical emergency, or a threat
of terrorism, fire fighters are the first to arrive
and are ready and only too willing to take the risks
necessary to ensure our safety.
